With AVCHDCoder you can convert a MKV file to AVCHD. Almost everything will be done for you. It is almost fool proof. Because it is still Beta not everything can be done with the tool.

This is a list of things that are still unsupported:

No AAC, DTS-HD, Tru-HD, DTS-EH, only DTS, AC3 448Kbps and AC3 640Kbps are supported.
AC3 384Kbps and DTS-HD are not supported.
Downcovertion from AC3 to AC3 at another bitrate is not supported.
No 2.0 sound. Only 5.1 channel audio supported.
Subtitle files that are inside the mkv are not supported, only external srt files are supported.
DVD9 currently only supports DTS and no AC3.
DVD5 supports AC3 448/640 Kbps and DTS, no AC3 384Kbps.
It's not possible to burn after convertion.
Only 1 subtitle is supported.
Only 1 audio track is supported.
Not possible to edit the track languages. This will be added later.


But the most will be done automaticly. Here is a list of awesome features:

You don't need to convert a srt yourself. The only thing you do is adding your srt file and choose some settings.
Conversion of audio will be done automaticly.
You only need to choose your output resolution. Borders will be added automaticly. Downscaling will also be done automaticly.
You can choose between DVD5 and DVD9 output.
Feature to watch the approx. bitrate before encoding.
Iso will created for you so it is ready to burn.
No need to configure the x264 encoder. There is 1 build in profile that can't be edited.
Muxing will be done automaticly.
Unique formules to calculate the bitrate. In most cases the disc is filled for almost 100%. But I'll need your feedback to tweak it.
